Grow Biointensive Workshop - Open Pollinated Seeds, Seed Saving and Companion Planting

Join us for an educational and skill-building workshop at Future Heirlooms - a Grow Biointensive Research, Education and Demonstration mini-farm.

Our workshops are designed to empower participants with the knowledge and basic skills needed to establish a Grow Biointensive garden at home!

Every workshop features discussion, demonstration and the opportunity to practice and skill build new techniques!

Week 3 -Open Pollinated Seeds, Seed Saving and Companion Planting- Monday August 2nd from 6pm to 7 pm

This week’s workshop is focused on Seeds. We’ll discuss the importance of Open Pollinated Seeds, how to grow your own seeds, how to harvest and process seeds, and discuss the various ways to practice companion planting.

During the workshop we’ll touch on the following topics:

  • Grow Biointensive Principles #6 & #7 - Open-Pollinated Seeds & Companion Planting

  • How to grow your own seed crops

  • The difference between OP and Hybrid seeds

  • Harvesting and processing seeds and grains

  • 3 ways we companion plant and the benefits of garden Biodiversity

All ages welcome, attendance by donation with all proceeds going to the Kootenay Society for Sustainable living in support of ongoing research, education and demonstration at the Future Heirlooms garden.

We encourage participants to leave pets at home, however we are pet friendly. If you have no other options please keep pets leashed during the duration of your visit.
