Grow Biointensive Garden Tour 6/8

Join us for an educational tour at Future Heirlooms - a Grow Biointensive Research, Education and Demonstration mini-farm.

Tours run weekly on Sundays - from 10 am to 11 am.

During the tour we’ll cover the basics of the Grow Biointensive method - a system of food production designed to grow a person’s entire diet for all year in the smallest area possible, while using the least amount of natural resources.

While the tools we use are simple, the techniques and principles governing Grow Biointensive are the results of 44+ years of experience and development - creating a truly sustainable and closed-loop system that focuses on soil regeneration, simple techniques and tools that don’t require the use of fossil fuels, and very high yields of nutrient dense food - available and practical for anyone anywhere food is grown.

During the tour we’ll touch on the following topics:

  • The 8 Principles of Grow Biointensive Sustainability

  • Watering techniques

  • Flatting (Seed starting)

  • Seed Saving

  • Garden design

  • Composting

  • and more!

All ages welcome, attendance by donation with all proceeds going to the Kootenay Society for Sustainable living in support of ongoing research, education and demonstration at the Future Heirlooms garden.

Coffee/Tea and snacks provided by [stoke] Market!

Please RSVP so we have an idea of attendance:

We encourage participants to leave pets at home, however we are pet friendly. If you have no other options please keep pets leashed during the duration of your visit.
