Week 5 -Diet Design- Monday August 16th from 6pm to 7 pm
This week’s workshop is focused on diet design and will take place in a classroom setting where participants will learn about the caloric and nutritional value of common crops. We’ll complete several exercises to determine just how many calories we need in a day, and how to design a sustainable diet that we can grow locally.
During the workshop we’ll touch on the following topics:
Grow Biointensive Principle #5 - Calorie Farming
How many calories we need per day
Which crops provide the most calories
How much food we can comfortably eat in a day
How much space we need to grow all of our own food for all year
All ages welcome, attendance by donation with all proceeds going to the Kootenay Society for Sustainable living in support of ongoing research, education and demonstration at the Future Heirlooms garden.
Please RSVP so we have an idea of attendance:
We encourage participants to leave pets at home, however we are pet friendly. If you have no other options please keep pets leashed during the duration of your visit.
