Ethiopian barley, while not as high yielding as it’s 6 row counterparts, has significant value in genetic preservation. After 2 years of selection we haven’t seen Ethiopian barley adapt as quickly to our micro-climate as varieties like Karan-16; with tillering and grain head size remaining the same. Even so, like most barley we grow, it has grown higher than average in height reaching a respectable 41” tall.
