Sangatsuga is our tallest Barley and among the highest yielding. Massive plants reach over 50” tall with unusually large 5” seed heads. Very prolific tillering and uniform large seed heads even on lower tillers.

We’ve seen some purple colour in immature seed heads, which fades by maturity.

Not as easily threshed as many of our other hulless Barley varieties, Sangatsuga will require some extra effort but is still generally considered hulless.

Sangatsuga is slower to mature, which is reasonable considering the size of these plants which are looking more like a wheat than barley!
