Dika, Wheat

CA$5.00

Stock is very low, and requires a reproduction!

If you would like to help out by growing this Wheat and sharing the seed back to Future Heirlooms, please get in touch!

Dika is an ancient Persian landrace known for excellent baking qualities.

Additional Info:

  • Ancient Persian landrace

  • Spring Red Wheat

  • 45” Tall/15+ tillers

  • 3.75” grain heads

  • Very cold tolerant

  • Long awns

  • Excellent baking characteristics

Dika has been our most challenged variety in our micro-climate. Over 3 seasons we haven’t seen any increase in tillering or grain head size, nor an increase in overall biomass or grain yield. Although Dika isn’t our tallest wheat, we’ve also had issues with lodging. While Dika hasn’t been our standout variety, it remains a valuable landrace with increasingly rare genetic diversity we strive to preserve. Please give Dika a chance in your micro-climate!
