Karan 16, Barley

CA$5.00

An heirloom hulless awned 6 row barley developed in India, and our favourite!

Karan-16 produces short highly productive plants and mature’s very quickly.

Additional Info:

-3” grain heads

-35” tall

-Our highest yielding barley @ 15 lbs per 100sqft

-Very cold tolerant

We’ve been selecting Karan-16 for tillering for the last 4 years. We’ve not only seen a tripling of tillers but also grain head size has grown from 2” to 3”!

Karan-16 is exceptionally easy to thresh, and has shown high adaptability in our climate. What started as very short, few tillered plants with a low yield has quickly developed into our highest yielding barley!

Karan-16 also produces a very wide hollow straw, which may be ideal for natural building applications.
