Akmolinka, Wheat

CA$5.00

Stock is very low, and requires a reproduction!

If you would like to help out by growing this Wheat and sharing the seed back to Future Heirlooms, please get in touch!

This rare landrace wheat hails from northern Kazakhstan. Technically a Poulard wheat that is closely related to Durum wheat. High yielding with gorgeous flame shaped grain heads.

Additional Info:

  • Kazakhstan Landrace

  • Spring/Hard Red

  • 50” Tall/20+ tillers

  • 4.5” grain heads

  • Fast to mature

  • Very cold tolerant

  • Excellent baking

  • Average yield

  • Awnless

We have spring planted Akmolinka for 2 seasons and have been impressed with both grain and biomass yields. While not as high yielding as Red Fife and Rouge de Bordeaux, Akmolinka shares many of the same physical characteristics and growing traits in its hardiness, speed to maturity and adaptability. If you’re looking for a spring wheat, we suggest trying all 3 to determine which grows the best in your micro climate!
