Banatka, Wheat

CA$5.00

Banatka is the results of crossing 2 European landraces, Bankuti and Ukrainka. We refer to it as the more modern stabilization of Ukrainka, with consistent plant height of over 51” and 15+ tillers.

Additional Info:

  • Heritage wheat *Ukrainka cross

  • Winter/Hard Red

  • 52” Tall/15+ tillers

  • 4 1/4” grain heads

  • Fast to mature

  • Stable growth characteristics

  • Very cold tolerant

  • Excellent baking

  • High Grow Biointensive yield (2021)

  • Medium awns

Banatka is a fantastic winter wheat, with above average yield and very high tolerance for cold and frost. In our 2 seasons of experimentation we’ve seen 100% survival over winter, excellent plant uniformity in size as well as tiller maturity. While more stable and uniform than Ukrainka, Banatka has not shown the same enhancements in size and yield that Ukrainka has in 3 seasons.
